Individual Funding Request

The Individual Funding Request (IFR) team for South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw is hosted by NHS Sheffield CCG. They can be contacted by emailing

IFR Policy 

Procedures not Routinely Commissioned 

• Snoring Surgery (in the absence of Obstructive Sleep Apnoea OSA) 
• Dilation and curettage (D&C) for heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB) in women 
• Knee arthroscopy for patients with osteoarthritis 
• Injection for non-specific low back pain
• Acupuncture 
• Vasectomy under General Anaesthetic 

Exceptionality can be applied for via a clinical letter to the IFR panel

• Referrals for Varicose Veins no longer require IFR prior approval and should be sent direct to specialty using the checklist on the CFO page

• Referrals for Grommets (adults and children) no longer require IFR prior approval and should be sent direct to specialty using the checklist on the CFO page
