Community diagnostic centre in the Glass Works

Date: 27 May 2022

As you are aware we secured national funding for a Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) in Barnsley town centre at the Glass Works centre. The unit is run by Barnsley Hospital and is now operational, providing phlebotomy, ultrasound, and breast screening in this convenient location away from the hospital site.

X-Ray and DEXA will come online in June. With the exception of DEXA, the Trust will still operate all these services onsite as well as at the CDC.

Referrals should still be made in the same way as previously - the CDC is an appointment system only. Patients still call 01226 433963 to book their phlebotomy appointments.

When patients are making their appointment, if appropriate, they may be booked at the CDC. If they prefer to visit the hospital site, or have other appointments at the hospital, we will arrange their appointment to be on site.

Current opening hours are 8am to 6pm, Monday – Friday. Phlebotomy appointment run only until 4.30pm currently.

We ask that anyone attending the CDC wear a face covering, and patients are asked to ensure they do not attend more than 10 minutes prior to their appointment times.
