Community Paediatrics service

Welcome to the Community Paediatrics website.

The Community Paediatrics (also known as Community Child Health) Department is part of Integrated Paediatric Services in Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, providing care for children and young people up to the age of 18 years. This is a multi professional team of doctors, specialist nurses, and an autism case co-ordinator, working together with the child and the family in Barnsley’s community. This is a proactive, highly dynamic and innovative service. The Community Paediatrics service works in close relationship with professionals and teams in other health, education, social care, CAMHS and children’s therapy services in Barnsley.

This department is based at New Street health Centre. The medical team comprises of a number of consultants and associate specialists supported by an epilepsy specialist nurse, nursery nurse and secretarial support.

The department works closely with all the agencies and the multidisciplinary teams in the community in addition to working in a complementary way with the hospital paediatric department. The department has evolved over the years to provide the following services:
