Dietetics & Nutrition service

Outpatient clinics are run at 30 different venues throughout the Barnsley area where patients can be treated for a range of conditions. These include:

diabetes,

raised cholesterol levels,

coeliac disease,

gastrointestinal disease,

food allergy or intolerance or

nutritional deficiencies, e.g.anaemias, and others.

We have two specialist paediatric dietitians both based at Barnsley Hospital. Together they see children from 0-16 years of age with conditions such as:

The role of the paediatric dietitian is to ensure a balanced nutritional intake to optimise a child’s growth and development.

If you think your child needs to see a dietitian, you will need to speak to your GP, paediatrician or paediatric consultant who will refer your child to the dietetic service.

For more information about the dietetics service, please call us on 01226 432606 between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.
