Benefits of quitting smoking before surgery

Date: 23 February 2017

The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd) put out a press release launching a new campaign to encourage smokers to quit before surgery, with support from ASH.

The press release highlights the benefits of quitting before surgery and is part of the range of resources available on the RCSEd’s webpage about the campaign.

The campaign follows the publication of a patient leaflet giving advice on quitting in the run-up to surgery. This leaflet is based on the more detailed Joint Briefing: Smoking and Surgery published by ASH in 2016.
