Paediatric SEND Phlebotomy Clinic
Barnsley Hospital are planning to launch a dedicated paediatric Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) phlebotomy clinic on Wednesday afternoons, once a month. If demand increases, this may move to a fortnightly schedule. This clinic will replace the standard blood clinic on those afternoons.
This clinic will commence on Wednesday 29 October (during half-term). For these sessions, each appointment slot will be 30 minutes, allowing time to provide a calm and supportive experience tailored to individual needs.
If any parents express concerns about their child’s experience with blood tests, please consider offering this clinic as an option. Please refer through choose and book as normal but then contact Sue Nicholson on 01226 431652 to discuss additional needs. A few days prior to the appointment, the team will contact parents/carers to gather specific information about the child’s needs so we can adapt the session accordingly.
