The department consists of 5 full time consultants working in Geriatric Medicine. We boast a well equipped Acute Rehabilitation Unit which has specialist rehabilitation services for Parkinson’s, continence, one stop falls & a frailty service. The department also has specialist nurse-run clinics.
All of our consultants are available for consultation about clinical problems that affect older people. We provide comprehensive assessment and use a multidisciplinary approach for patients, providing assessment for those experiencing problems with:
- continence
- mobility and movement
- frailty
- fractures
- bone fragility
- stroke
- Parkinson’s
We can provide assessment and advice in complex areas of care involving assessment of co-morbidity, including cognitive decline and issues of mental capacity.
