Speech and Language Therapy -Children ( see Children's Speech SLT)
Clients are referred to the service. This can be done by a professional with the permission of a person who has parental responsibility or can be done directly by a person with parental responsibility. This is usually a parent or carer. Where a young person is able to give consent, they may also self-refer.
As a service we work in episodes of care. This means that:
- We assess children and find out what they need to practise
- We decide what they need to practise first. Most children do better if we pick 1 or 2 things at a time
- We help them to do the practice
- We show parents and carers how to practise their child
