Cancer Screening and Support
Information on a full range of cancer screening programmes and how they can be accessed.
Cervical cancer
Women aged between 25 and 49 are invited for cervical cancer screening every 3 years; women aged between 50 and 64 are invited every 5 years.
Breast cancer
Women between 50 and 70 years old are invited for breast screening every 3 years.
Women over 70 years old are not automatically invited for screening. You can arrange to be screened; please contact the local breast screening office at Barnsley Hospital (Tel. 01226 432100) or ask your GP for more information.
Bowel cancer
Men and women aged between 60 and 74 receive a bowel cancer screening kit through the post every 2 years.
The kit is designed to be completed at home.
People aged over 74, or people aged 60 to 74 who have lost their kit can request one on 0800 7076060.
