The Exchange Recovery & Wellbeing College, Barnsley service

The Exchange Recovery College takes and educational rather than a clinical approach to improving mental health.  We offer a range of courses and one off workshops with the aim of improving wellbeing through learning which are all co-designed and co-delivered by people with real life experience of mental health and recovery who work in conjunction with NHS professionals, education providers and trainers to share what works for them.

The aim is to offer subjects that would not be always available within mainstream education and could include:

  • Understanding mental health conditions
  • Understanding recovery from mental health
  • Looking at mental health services and treatments
  • Personal wellbeing and health
  • Training, advocacy and peer-support skill.

Staff/Team

Our team includes:

  • Recovery Coaches (professionals from social work and nursing backgrounds)
  • Physical Activity Development Team including an Exercise Specialist in Mental Health
  • Complementary & Wellbeing Therapists
  • Volunteer Development Manager
  • Development and Support Mentors

Referral/Enrolment

You are not referred to the recovery college, anyone can simply enrol for any of the courses that are of interest.  Our courses are open to all adults and we welcome carers, supporters and professionals too.  If you are new to the college we will invite you to an induction session where you will find out more about how we work, the courses on offer and we can answer any questions you may have.
