Barnsley Hospital Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) units go live with 7-day emergency care from Monday 28 June

Date: 28 June 2021

Barnsley Hospital Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) units go live with 7-day emergency care from Monday 28 June

What's happening?   Our Acute Medical Assessment Clinic (AMAC) and Surgical Assessment Unit (SAU) are relocating to new facilities in the hospital, and from now on will be known as SDEC (Same Day Emergency Care).

Who needs to know?  Any clinician referring patients to Barnsley Hospital for same day emergency care.

When will it happen?  The hospital teams occupy their new facilities on Monday 28 June. Both the medical and surgical teams will offer a 7-day service from this date.

Why is it important?  SDEC provides an improved streaming pathway for all healthcare partners, such as the ambulance service or primary care partners, who will be able to refer patients directly, providing faster access to appropriate care.

Telephone numbers for the new SDEC units are 01226 436099 (Surgical) and 01226 432452 (Medical).

The Trust will continue to monitor, assess and evaluate procedures and practices following the go-live to further improve patient experience and flow.
