Date: 31 March 2017

The services will provide high quality support, emergency accommodation and therapeutic services for victims and survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence. They will start from 1st of April and have been commissioned by Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council.

The services will be managed by specialist and local agencies with IDAS being the lead agency.

IDAS is the largest domestic abuse charity in Yorkshire with over 40 years’ experience of delivering IDVA services, outreach and refuge accommodation supporting over 4,000 families each year.  IDAS will manage services across Barnsley working closely with local agency BSARCS to provide enhanced support for survivors of sexual violence, and with the charities Remedi and Staying Put to support families where young people are abusive and to engage with hard to reach groups.

IDAS will also provide a 24-hour helpline, live chat support, group work, counselling services and training for professionals based in Barnsley.  BSARCS will continue to deliver their own high quality ISVA and therapeutic services.
