Personalised care and support Learning and development offer June 2021

Date: 28 June 2021

Whilst the Macmillan Living With And Beyond Cancer Programme formally closed at the end of March 2021, the Cancer Alliance is committed to supporting the continued learning and development of professionals across the regional who are providing support to people affected by cancer.

The attached contains information of our fifth Learning and development offer, covering eight topics aimed at Cancer support workers, Navigators, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Allied Health Professionals and colleagues from the voluntary, charitable and community sectors.

I would particularly like to draw your attention to two topics:

  • Topic 4 - Cancer & Mental Health - new dates in August and September are now available for this awareness training, whilst open to all this training is suited to Allied Health Professionals, Cancer Support Workers, Navigators and colleagues from the voluntary, charitable and community sectors. To book a place on the training course please email Paula at plawrence4@nhs.net
  • Topic 7 - Advanced communication skills - we are currently working with Lead Cancer Nurses across the Cancer Alliance to run advanced communication skills training. This training may be suitable for both new and existing CNS’s. We would ask that CNS’s express their interest in this training by close of play on Friday 9th July to their Lead Cancer Nurse

Obviously due to the ongoing social distancing rules the vast majority of the Learning and development off this year is either e-learning or on line learning, some of which we hope to be able to return to face to face sessions as soon as possible.
