What Is Colon Capsule Endoscopy?

Colon capsule endoscopy (CCE) is a non-invasive technique for diagnostic imaging of the colon. It does not require air inflation or sedation and allows minimally invasive and painless colonic evaluation.  

Indications when to consider colon capsule endoscopy

  • When patient refuses colonoscopy.
  • Patient not fit for colonoscopy (cardio/ respiratory medications).
  • Fit < 10
  • Fit between 10-100
  • CTC is contraindicated.
  • Low index of suspicion for cancers / polyps.
  • Follow up of treatment for IBD.
  • Abdominal pain if thought to be appropriate.
